Compound Fracture
On the night Miles Abernathy-sixteen-year-old socialist and proud West Virginian-comes out as trans to his parents, he sneaks off to a party, carrying evidence that may finally turn the tide of the blood feud plaguing Twist Creek: Photos that prove the county's Sheriff Davies was responsible for the so-called "accident" that injured his dad, killed others, and crushed their grassroots efforts to unseat him. The feud began a hundred years ago when Miles's great-great-grandfather, Saint Abernathy, incited a miners' rebellion that ended with a public execution at the hands of law enforcement. Now, Miles becomes the feud's latest victim as the sheriff's son and his friends sniff out the evidence, follow him through the woods, and beat him nearly to death. In the hospital, the ghost of a soot-covered man hovers over Miles's bedside while Sheriff Davies threatens Miles into silence. But when Miles accidently kills one of the boys who hurt him, he learns of other folks in Twist Creek who want out from under the sheriff's heel.To free their families from this cycle of cruelty, they're willing to put everything on the line-is Miles?

How can a fibula fracture (Weber B fracture) be treated without surgery?

Patients may also benefit from physical therapy to help with rehabilitation and regain mobility. It is important to follow the guidance of a medical professional to ensure proper healing and recovery.

What is the difference between a coccyx fracture and a pelvic fracture?
A coccyx fracture specifically refers to a break in the tailbone, which is the small, triangular bone at the bottom of the spine. On the other hand, a pelvic fracture involves a break in any of the bones that make up the pelvis, including the ilium, ischium, and pubis. Pelvic fractures are typically more serious and can involve multiple bones, while coccyx fractures are usually less severe and can often heal on their own with conservative treatment.

What experiences are there with a Lisfranc fracture (midfoot fracture) without surgery?
Experiences with a Lisfranc fracture without surgery can vary depending on the severity of the injury and the individual's healing process. In some cases, non-surgical treatment such as immobilization in a cast or boot, rest, and physical therapy may be effective in allowing the fracture to heal. However, it is important to note that without surgery, there may be a risk of long-term complications such as chronic pain, stiffness, and arthritis in the affected foot. It is crucial for individuals with a Lisfranc fracture to closely follow their healthcare provider's recommendations for non-surgical treatment and to attend regular follow-up appointments to monitor the healing process.

How much does a hand fracture cost if you don't have insurance?
The cost of a hand fracture without insurance can vary widely depending on the severity of the injury, the location of the treatment, and the specific medical services required. However, without insurance, the cost of a hand fracture can be quite expensive, potentially ranging from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. This cost includes expenses such as emergency room visits, doctor's fees, imaging tests, and any necessary surgical procedures or follow-up care. Fragility Fracture Nursing
This open access book aims to provide a comprehensive but practical overview of the knowledge required for the assessment and management of the older adult with or at risk of fragility fracture. It considers this from the perspectives of all of the settings in which this group of patients receive nursing care. Globally, a fragility fracture is estimated to occur every 3 seconds. This amounts to 25 000 fractures per day or 9 million per year. The financial costs are reported to be: 32 billion EUR per year in Europe and 20 billon USD in the United States. As the population of China ages, the cost of hip fracture care there is likely to reach 1.25 billion USD by 2020 and 265 billion by 2050 (International Osteoporosis Foundation 2016). Consequently, the need for nursing for patients with fragility fracture across the world is immense. Fragility fracture is one of the foremost challenges for health care providers, and the impact of each one of those expected 9 million hip fractures is significant pain, disability, reduced quality of life, loss of independence and decreased life expectancy. There is a need for coordinated, multi-disciplinary models of care for secondary fracture prevention based on the increasing evidence that such models make a difference. There is also a need to promote and facilitate high quality, evidence-based effective care to those who suffer a fragility fracture with a focus on the best outcomes for recovery, rehabilitation and secondary prevention of further fracture. The care community has to understand better the experience of fragility fracture from the perspective of the patient so that direct improvements in care can be based on the perspectives of the users. This book supports these needs by providing a comprehensive approach to nursing practice in fragility fracture care. ; Provides a comprehensive discussion of nursing the frail older person with a fragility fracture across Europe Based on a two-day workshop of like-minded specialist and advanced nurses from over 20 countries Acts as the course text/reader for a Europe-wide education programme in all relevant settings (Emergency Department, Fracture Clinic, Trauma Unit, Orthopaedic Ward, Rehabilitation setting) Open AccessThis work was published by Saint Philip Street Press pursuant to a Creative Commons license permitting commercial use. Age of Fracture
In the last quarter of the twentieth century, the ideas that most Americans lived by started to fragment.Mid-century concepts of national consensus, managed markets, gender and racial identities, citizen obligation, and historical memory became more fluid.Flexible markets pushed aside Keynesian macroeconomic structures.Racial and gender solidarity divided into multiple identities; community responsibility shrank to smaller circles. In this wide-ranging narrative, Daniel T. Rodgers shows how the collective purposes and meanings that had framed social debate became unhinged and uncertain. Age of Fracture offers a powerful reinterpretation of the ways in which the decades surrounding the 1980s changed America.Through a contagion of visions and metaphors, on both the intellectual right and the intellectual left, earlier notions of history and society that stressed solidity, collective institutions, and social circumstances gave way to a more individualized human nature that emphasized choice, agency, performance, and desire. On a broad canvas that includes Michel Foucault, Ronald Reagan, Judith Butler, Charles Murray, Jeffrey Sachs, and many more, Rodgers explains how structures of power came to seem less important than market choice and fluid selves. Cutting across the social and political arenas of late-twentieth-century life and thought, from economic theory and the culture wars to disputes over poverty, color-blindness, and sisterhood, Rodgers reveals how our categories of social reality have been fractured and destabilized. As we survey the intellectual wreckage of this war of ideas, we better understand the emergence of our present age of uncertainty.
